The accounting profession has established a system, through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, whereby CPA firms may voluntarily join the AICPA Division of CPA Firms. Member firms must successfully complete a "Quality Control Peer Review" (audit) every three years. The peer review is directed toward determining if the firm is complying with quality control standards established by the Division and is conducted by another CPA firm. Summers, McNea has been a member of the Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) since 1987.
